Bitheadz announces Phrazer loop-based composition software brings easy pitch and tempo mat

MACWORLD EXPO, JACOB K. JAVITS CENTER, NY - BitHeadz, Inc., the award winning manufacturer of software musical instruments today announced Phrazer™, the company's answer for loop-based composition and arranging. Phrazer bridges the gap between high end multitrack audio sequencers and consumer level looping tools, providing a simplistic yet powerful solution for mixing and matching audio loops and phrases on the fly.

"Finally we have a product for the Mac that accomplishes what ACID™ has done for PC users" says BitHeadz CEO Steve O'Connell, citing the success of Sonic Foundry's ACID line of loop-based production tools. "Now any Mac user can quickly match up different loops using standard digital audio files, Phrazer native files, or even ACID files imported from the PC platform."

Phrazer is designed for combining loops and phrases. Users can perform real-time changes to the tempo and key of any audio file imported into a Phrazer session. From here, volume and panning automation can be assigned per track along with DSP effects for attaining the perfect mix. Different tracks can be gated on and off from the computer QWERTY keyboard, or from a MIDI keyboard with perfect synchronization. A sample editor is provided for fine tuning audio files, and support for external MIDI sync is included for use with MIDI setups. Once a mix has been perfected, Phrazer can render it's output as a disk file for use with other digital audio applications.

Phrazer is optimized for Apple's G4 processor and will support ASIO, Direct I/O, DirectConnect, MAS 2.0, ReWire, and Sound Manager. The product is expected to ship in Q4 2000.
