Yamaha MY16-mLAN Expansion Card link 02R96 or 01V96 digital mixers to networkYamaha Professional Audio brings simple, high-resolution connectivity to today’s complex music production systems with the introduction of the MY16-mLAN, the newest addition to Yamaha’s line of compact, convenient Mini-YGDAI plug-in cards.Available in December, the MY16-mLAN provides the interface hardware and connections required to link Yamaha 02R96 or 01V96 digital mixers to an mLAN network, Yamaha’s high performance computer networking protocol. This connection allows multiple channels of digital audio and multiple ports of MIDI to be transmitted and controlled via a single IEEE 1394 Firewire cable, significantly reducing the number of discrete connections. The 24-bit/96kHz compatible MY16-mLAN card provides up to sixteen channels of audio I/O. The unit will insert into any of the four designated MY card slots on the rear panel of the 02R96 or the slot on the 01V96, seamlessly integrating with the mixer’s normal operation. Bundled mLAN Patchbay application software provides convenient audio and MIDI signal routing on both Mac and Windows XP-based systems, eliminating the need for extra PCI cards or interface hardware. “Home project and small-format production studios can now have powerful, fully integrated systems that were once reserved for larger, more professional facilities,” states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Yamaha Professional Audio. “Since Yamaha’s mLAN technology provides a means to create a complete system of compatible musical instruments, computer products and interfaces, it was logical to offer the high-speed network connectivity in an appropriate expansion option such as the MY16-mLAN.” The MY16-mLAN will easily integrate the 02R96 and 01V96 into an Open Network Expansion (O.N.E.) System, an mLAN-based setup that allows the user to choose different software and hardware from Yamaha and more than 43 third-party licensees, including Apple, Lexicon and Apogee. “Networking is the next wave in providing maximum system flexibility and reliability,” states John Schauer, product manager, Yamaha Professional Audio. “Products like the MY16-mLAN and O.N.E. Systems are evidence of the simplicity of mLAN, and of Yamaha’s commitment to the future of this protocol for computer-based production.”
