Dick Petersson of Gothenburg, Sweden Wins Ernie Ball & Sonic Foundry’sThe "Best Guitarist and Bass Player on the Web Contest," sponsored by Ernie Ball Music Man and Sonic Foundry, rocked the online world as guitar players uploaded a song onto the Sonic Foundry’s acidguitar.com site, showing off their talent to a voting web audience. One of the winners, guitarist Dick Petersson of Gothenburg, Sweden will receive an all-expense paid trip to America’s premiere music industry trade show, "NAMM 2001," in Anaheim, CA, January 18-21. Home to Disneyland, Anaheim is based in Southern California, just south of Los Angeles.The highlight of Petersson’s trip is sure to be the Ernie Ball All-Star Jam on January 19, where he will play live on stage with some of the world’s greatest guitarists. They include Steve Morse Band and the Dregs, Steve Lukather, Albert Lee, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Tony Levin, Dave LaRue and Sterling Ball. The All-Star Jam will take place at the famed Coach House (www.thecoachhouse.com) located nearby at the beach town of San Juan Capistrano. Petersson, a part-time freelance guitarist with an eclectic style, was pleasantly surprised to win, and is looking forward to his first trip to the United States, and playing with guitarists that he greatly admires. " I’m nervous to play with them, but it will be very fun," said Petersson, " It’s my dream, even to just talk with these players would be amazing!" Now 40-years-old, Petersson has been playing the guitar since he was 15.
