MP3 Karaoke professionally produced karaoke products, in MP3i to be distributed via the InMP3 Karaoke, a member of the Songdog Network, announced a licensing agreement with EMI Music Publishing that will allow mp3 karaoke to distribute synchronized lyrics with digital music files in the new MP3i (MP3 Interactive) digital music format. MP3Karaoke.com is the first distribution point for this new formatted music allowing for professionally produced karaoke products, in MP3i to be distributed via the Internet."This is a big shot in the arm for the new MP3i (MP3 Interactive) technology," said John Collins, President and CEO of the Songdog Network. "A deal like this with EMI, which is the world's largest music publisher, helps bring credibility to our company, our technology, and our products," continued Collins. "Our business model spells out upfront how we intend to use MP3 interactive technology to work with major record labels and publishing houses to protect their intellectual property while providing a fun and easy system for consumers to use." Randy Parker of the Parker Music Group negotiated the agreement. According to Collins, the MP3 interactive format was developed, with security in mind, to create a new interactive music format that provides protection for copyright holders while adding exciting, value-added content for consumers. MP3i integrates these two elements into a single file resulting in a protected yet simple, user-friendly new music format. The end result is a viable way to monetize the digital download market. The MP3i music format was first introduced on January 2, 2001 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. What is MP3i? Simply, it is a means of integrating graphical data for synchronized playback with digital music files. It provides secure synchronized interactivity between music and graphical images such as lyrics (allowing music fans to sing along with their favorite tunes), album artwork, liner notes, pictures, advertising, etc. "The possibilities for new 'Virtual Albums' and personalization for the end consumer are unlimited. MP3i technology offers innovative ways to monetize the Digital Music Market through unique value-added content for consumers and protection for intellectual property holders," said Collins. The MP3i standard also includes support for unique user-specific transactional watermarks and a robust, but user friendly, encryption/decryption scheme. "Mp3 karaoke is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to interactivity. We are currently developing applications for Virtual Albums, Interactive Audio Books as well as Music Education products and Portable Tutors," said Collins. The patented ancillary data bit stream, which is co-owned by SDN and First International Digital (FID), a Motorola spin-off, allows for the integration and synchronization of any form of digital media. FID just announced the release of the "iRock 680" which is the worlds first Portable Interactive Karaoke device. "The 'iRock 680' combined with the MP3i technology is not only a cool new entertainment device, it has opened publisher's eyes to the possibilities of a whole new generation of interactive learning products. These include rehearsal applications for vocal performance to interactive language programs. The possibilities are endless," said Collins.
