Audio-Technica has the lead in my favorite broadway: the love songsNew York's legendary performing arts venue, the City Center, recently played host for a live-to-tape PBS Television special, My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs. The show will air on TV as well as be available on DVD and CD. My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs features an all-star Broadway cast including Julie Andrews, Michael Crawford, Robert Goulet, Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth, Chita Rivera and Brent Spiner performing some of Broadway's most popular love songs. Mitch Maketansky, audio producer for the show and owner of Speed of Sound Audio Productions, chose Audio-Technica microphones to capture these once in a lifetime performances. On-hand to record the event was the Effanel Music mobile truck with John Harris at the helm. Audio-Technica live sound market manager Joel Singer provided on-site consultation to ensure technical excellence.A wide-selection of over seventy Audio-Technica microphones were employed by Maketansky for the event including: AT4050/CM5's, ATM35's, AT4041's, AT4055's, AT4054's, AT4033a's, ATM23HE's, AT853a's, AT4071a's and AT4073a's. For vocals, the performers used a combination of new ATW-7373 Multi-channel UHF Wireless Handheld Condenser Systems and MT830cW omni lavaliers in black and beige. "With the show being recorded for not only television and DVD, but also CD, I had to achieve the highest sound quality possible," commented Maketansky.
