Songwriting: using Chord types and changes
Changes in music, from one part to the next, are one of the most difficult things in music, composing and songwriting. Coming up with a chord sequence is not so difficult. Composing a second chord sequence is also not so hard. But making them work together and going from one to the other is much more difficult. If you do it right you have a possible hit song, if you don't you can pretty much start over with a new song. One of the techniques making strong changes between parts of a composition is using different chord types. So how should you use this technique for you songs? And it will probably also make you understand why the songs and compositions you think are perfect work the way they do.
