Mackie On-Tour with Dream Theater. Dream Theater will be appearing during the NAMM Expo
February 3, 2000 - New York, NY - Dream Theater is considered by their legions of fans to be the standard-bearers of progressive rock. Originally formed in Long Island, New York, in the late 1980's, Dream Theater soon garnered a fan base touching every corner of the globe. Dream Theater's fans are among the most loyal in Rock n' Roll, commanding a global network of sophisticated websites that keep fans current with the band's every move.

In January, 1999, Dream Theater replaced their keyboardist, Derek Sherinian, with keyboardist extraordinaire, Jordan Rudess. Jordan was voted "1994 Best New Talent" in the Overall Best Keyboardist category, in Keyboard Magazine Reader's Poll, after his solo release "Listen."
Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci states, "Jordan is, without a doubt, one of the most talented keyboardists we have ever worked with. He plays a huge role on the new record, SCENES FROM A MEMORY."
Joining Jordan on the upcoming 1999/2000 Dream Theater World Tour will be his new backline and monitor system consisting entirely of Mackie SRM-450 Active SR Monitors. "Two of the SRM-450s are on the floor in monitor position, for my fold-back. The other four SRM-450s are used for my backline sound." The self-powered SRM-450s reduce system complexity and facilitate the ease-of-transport, set-up and tear-down, "Especially, since we will be shipping equipment overseas for our European tour," states Jordan. "Every dollar saved in shipping equipment by air freight is a dollar earned."
After only the first three hours of practice in a cramped New York City rehearsal studio with his new Mackie system, Jordan was quick to point out, "The SRM-450s are awesome. The sound is great. The whole band is very impressed by the sound and even the way they look!" Jordan continues, "These are the speakers a performer like myself requires. The detail and articulation is more pronounced for the high-intensity, intricate arrangements of Dream Theater's music. I'm completely blown away with the quality of these speakers and the way they bring my extreme full-range of sounds to life! Everything from my Moog Taurus Bass sounds all the way up to my soaring leads are represented accurately and powerfully in the sonic picture."
Jordan and the rest of the members of Dream Theater are looking forward to "hittin' the road" to support the new record. Tour dates began in November 1999 hitting some the largest cities in mainland Europe. Dream Theater will also be bringing their music to fans through-out the rest of the world, United Stands, Japan, Canada and possibly South America, for a good portion - if not all of - 2000.
