GEPCO Debuts New 96kHz/ Extended Distance 110 OHM Digital Audio Cables
The 5596 series debuts as Gepco International's next generation of 110-ohm AES/EBU digital audio cable. Designed for both superior electrical and mechanical performance, the 5596 series is the most accurate cable available for transmission of all formats of AES3 digital audio, including 24-bit/96kHz.
The 5596 series features an extended 12.3 MHz bandwidth, ultra-low attenuation and jitter, mechanical stability, and a precision 110 ohm impedance. Optimized for 96 kHz bandwidth requirements, 5596 is also ideal for extended distance runs of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz formats. Its ultra-low attenuation and precision impedance enable longer runs (up to 60 percent longer than other types of twisted pair), reducing the need for transformers or repeaters in the interconnecting system.
Three versions are offered, the 5596EZ and 5596M single-pair cables, and the D5596EZ dual-pair cable. All feature stranded 24 gage oxygen-free conductors insulated with Gepco's new T165 dielectric compound. Through use of these materials and tight manufacturing tolerances, the high performance of this series is achieved. The impedance of 5596 remains consistent across the entire operating bandwidth (100 kHz to 12.3 MHz), while attenuation at 12 MHz is only 2.1 dB (per 100'). Other attributes include high conductivity, low structural return loss, and excellent EMI rejection.
The 5596M is the premier 110 ohm digital audio cable. It's design achieves both superior performance and enhanced flexibility, making it ideal for studio wiring and cable assemblies. In addition to the new T165 dielectric compound and oxygen-free conductors, the 5596M has two solid virgin polyethylene rods that both lower attenuation and maintain the impedance as the cable is bent or flexed. Shielding is provided by a dense 95 percent copper braid with drain wire, and the violet jacket is a low-durometer, extra-flexible, matte PVC.
The 5596EZ is the workhorse of the series and is intended for punchdown, mass termination, or permanent install applications. It has a bonded foil shield with drain wire, and an easy to strip, riser rated PVC jacket.

Also available is the D5596EZ. It features the same construction of the easy to terminated 5596EZ in a convenient dual-pair (two channel) construction. Both the single and dual-pair models have a violet jacket and are UL listed Type CMR. For a more traditional appearance, the 5596EZ is also available in black.
