Judas Priest: Behringer sound processors for Live Sound
With its original lineup and Rob Halford back as their legendary frontman, the band that once almost single-handedly defined British Metal—now better than ever—is currently on a successful world tour. Enter Judas Priest! Martin Walker, the band’s FOH engineer, and Kevin McCarthy, monitor engineer, both employ a considerable number of equipment from BEHRINGER on the Judas Priest tour that will culminate in the celebrated ‘Ozzfest’ next month.
Walker has been extensively touring for 20 years, and has engineered several hundred acts. Some of his clients include Paradise Lost, The Almighty, Good Charlotte, Kula Shaker, B.B. King Whitesnake and, now, Judas Priest. Kevin McCarthy’s reputation precedes him as he continues to tour with such mega-names as Judas Priest, Megadeth, Alice Cooper and the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
Martin Walker recounts the years past. “Too much gear has passed through my hands to list it all, but I have been particularly impressed with the quality and comprehensiveness of the BEHRINGER range. The T1952 performs as well as—if not better than—comparable models by other brands that are often at least twice the price. It provides very warm and smooth compression for the guitar sound, while it’s incomparable with any other unit within five times its price, and on top of that it looks really cool, especially in a rack with five or six of them together—it looks like the cockpit of a Spitfire aircraft.” Kevin McCarthy agrees: “I have been using the T1952 TUBE COMPOSER for more than three years—it’s a rock-solid and very reliable piece of technology”.
