Digidesign Ships Record Number of ProControls
Los Angeles, Digidesign released sales figures reporting more than 1,350 units shipped for its world-class integrated control surface – ProControl. Digidesign reports an additional 1,000 Fader Expansion Packs were sold to date. ProControl provides high-quality hands-on control for mixing, editing, and processing within the TDM-based Pro Tools environment. These latest numbers in ‘units-sold’ signals the growing acceptance of ProControl as the console of choice for music and post professionals throughout the industry.
ProControl provides tactile control over all TDM-equipped Pro Tools parameters, particularly when used with Pro Tools| 24 and Pro Tools| 24 MIX systems. Tactile controls are provided for Write, Touch, Latch, Trim and Read modes for fader levels, pans, sends, mutes, and plug-in settings. The console also provides a monitor section capable of 5.1 surround monitoring. Mixing power is accessed using Digidesign’s patented DigiFader touch-sensitive moving faders along with dedicated function switches and encoders. ProControl connectivity to TDM-based Pro Tools systems (for Mac OS and Win NT) is provided via a fast 10bT Ethernet connection making it possible to network ProControl Main and Expansion units throughout a production facility.
ProControl and Pro Tools have been used in a number of Billboard chart-topping hits and Grammy-Award nominated releases including Ricky Martin’s "Livin’ La Vida Loca," and Santana’s "Smooth." Other high-profile projects that have used ProControl include the remixing of the Talking Heads movie "Stop Making Sense," "Pokeman The Movie" soundtrack, and upcoming releases by Enrique Inglesias. The console can be found in major audio and post production facilities including Skywalker Sound (San Francisco), The Audio Department (New York), Sharpe Sound (Vancouver), New Standard Post (Hollywood), Cutter’s, Weibe Music and Alien Soundscapes Inc. (Chicago), The Gentlemen’s Club (Miami), Heaven Studios (Miami), NBC, FS Limited (UK), Kamen Entertainment Group (New York), Sony Studios (Los Angeles), and more.
