Neumann new Mid-Price Segment Studio TLM 127 Microphone
With the TLM 127, Neumann presents a new mid-price segment studio microphone.
"In a sense, one could call it a TLM 103 with greatly expanded multipurpose qualities, 'my second Neumann and addition to my TLM 103'" suggests Wolfgang Fraissinet, President of Marketing & Sales at Neumann Berlin, by way of describing the new product.
Indeed, the capsule and the electronic circuitry are based on the now nearly legendary TLM 103. Thus the TLM 127 also has an extremely low self-noise level of just 7 dB(A) with a simultaneous max. SPL of 140 dB.
In addition, the TLM 127 offers extensive switching options, unlike the TLM 103, which is rather puristic in this regard: besides a 14 dB pre-attenuation and a high-pass filter, the basic version also offers a choice of cardioid and omnidirectional directional patterns.
Using a special power supply as an upgrade - available at a later date - the users can even choose among five directional patterns by remote control: cardioid, hyper-cardioid, wide-angle cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-eight. Nevertheless the microphone is and stays switchable without an additional remote power supply.
With these qualities, the TLM 127 fills a small gap in Neumann's product line. Therefore the Berlin-based microphone maker offers top-quality combined with innovative features - as usual.
The TLM 127 will be offered in a set together with an elastic suspension.
