Chords on the 6 String Bass Guitar
Playing chords on the 6 string bass makes the 6 string bass so much fun. Although it is not always practical to play chords in music, there are parts in songs where a bass guitar can play chords. In general a bass guitar can play chords just like a piano or keyboard. But it also has to follow some basic rules which keyboard players and guitarists follow.
When you want to play a chord (or any note) that is in the range of another instrument you have to be very careful.
If you would play a minor chord and the guitarist would play a sus2 chord in the same octave you would get
A C E + A B E
As you probably already know playing a C and B so close together will not sound good. But if you play these two octaves apart you will get something that can be different and useful.
