Yamaha NE-1 compact active parametric EQ

NASHVILLE–Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, reveals the secret for great bass sound with the release of the NE-1, a compact active parametric EQ, at Summer NAMM 2000. Developed over a decade ago for world-renowned bassist Nathan East, this "magic box" has helped this artist to achieve his signature sound, and is now available as a valuable recording or live performance tool for any bassist’s arsenal.
"The NE-1 has been my ‘secret weapon,’ until now," says East, who has performed, co-written and recorded with artists that include: Eric Clapton, Lionel Richie, Toni Braxton, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and East’s contemporary jazz combo, Fourplay. "I won’t play without it, and definitely won’t record without it."
"Yamaha is pleased to offer what had been an ‘artist’s secret’ to the public," states David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The NE-1, though simple in its design, allows players of all levels to produce a clean, incredible bass sound."
The NE-1 is a fully parametric equalizer designed to shape the mid-range of the instrument’s tonal spectrum. Three "Q" shape patterns (shallow, deep, flat) allow the user to apply creative or corrective equalization. The simple design also includes an input and output jack, and an easy-to-read LED indicator. The unit will be available in August.
"The NE-1 is easy to use, and has a name like Nathan East behind it," notes Gary Cook, Guitar product manager. "Basically, it has all the essentials for a great bass sound."
