Bass Guitar G String Exercise, Simple Rhythm Easy notes
In previous lessons we looked at how to play notes on different strings. In this exercise you will be reading notes for he G string, how they are displayed in Bass Tab notation and how to play along with a rhtyhm.
The next exercise shows 4 notes. Which notes are displayed?
Now play the notes first.
An open string (g)
2nd fret (a) use your index finger
4th fret (b) use your ring finger
2nd fret (a) use your index finger
You can use the MIDI sound to listen what it should sound like.
What you hear:
A 4 count intro: count it:
1 2 3 4
This way you know which tempo to play at. So when you try to play count the notes also in this tempo:
g a b a | g a b a | ..
1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | ..
Try not to look at your right hand. Just place the pick or finger on top of the string you are going to use (the G string in this case) and then only look at what you are doing with your left hand.
The MIDI file has a 4 count intro and repeats the exercise 4 times after that. Try to listen to it now and keep reading both the sheet music and tab when you listen. You should be able to follow all the notes.
