Big3 Studios providing multi track Audio Recording, Mixing, Production and MasteringWith a growing list of high-profile clients including Mario Winans, Destiny's Child, Cheap Trick, Usher and Hilary Duff, Big3 Studios has come a long way in a short amount of time. Founded about 4 years ago, the 7,000 sq. ft. facility started off with one tracking and control room and two mini-suites. Now the full service recording facility features three studios with state-of-the-art equipment, furnished by Professional Audio Design (PAD), and provides top-of-the-line multi-track audio recording, mixing, production and mastering services. Located close to the serene beaches of Florida's Gulf Coast in downtown St. Petersburg, Big3 Studios opened to the public late last summer."Bill Edwards, who started Big3 Records, was tired of traveling two hours away to a recording studio so he decided to go against everyone's advice and built a studio here in St. Petersburg," says Jim "Pinky" Beeman, Vice President and Chief Engineer of Big3 Studios. "We've had a pretty diverse mixture of artists, ranging from jazz to rock to hip-hop to country, working here. As the record label grew, we expanded on the studio working with PAD every step of the way." PAD helped furnish Big3Studios with some of the finest equipment in the industry including Protools, Manley, Tube-Tech, Thermionic Culture, Neve and an SSL 4080 G+ and 9080J-72 just to name a few. In addition to the right equipment, Big3 Studios has the resources to make a client very comfortable-a great sounding room, a beautiful environment and an excellent location. "Big3 Studios is pretty amazing place because there is nothing like it anywhere else in the region," says Dave Malekpour, president of PAD. "People that are going to travel to that part of Florida, have access to all the right equipment, a great console and a world-class room. They have an angle on the commercial side by having a one-of-a-kind facility in their region and by being oriented to their record production side of the business-a definite advantage to that area." In addition to the extensive work at Big3 Studios, PAD is currently assisting Big3 to create a small studio for use by the Boys and Girls Club. Since music is such a big part of children's lives, Big3 wanted the Boys and Girls Club organization and members to learn the ins and outs of working in a studio, which is something many children do not have access to. "I think this is a great thing being able to bring this experience down to the level of kids who don't have access or are underprivileged," says Malekpour. "We try to help out whichever way we can and are excited Big3 asked us to be involved. It's a great thing to do for kids. The reality is that there might be a hidden artist in there and something like this could change a lot of kid's lives." + Post comment/question/reply
