Carnival Center for the Performing Arts Partners with Yamaha Pianos
Launched in October 2006, Carnival Center for the Performing Arts is Miami-Dade County's largest ever public/private-sector partnership, and one of the most comprehensive performing arts facilities in the United States. Following extensive research to find the ideal musical instrument line to suit its needs, Carnival Center and Yamaha are pleased to announce an important partnership in music education and performance, featuring a wide variety of Yamaha instruments and services.
The facility's 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall The Carnival Center complex, located in the heart of downtown Miami, will include the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall, a 200-seat black box Studio Theater, the Peacock Education Center, a restored Art Deco Tower, and the Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts, an exceptional setting for outdoor entertainment and informal gatherings.
Carnival Center purchased a new musical fleet that includes a Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano, a C7 conservatory grand piano, a DC7M4 Pro Disklavier grand piano and a Yamaha C3 conservatory grand piano. Additionally, Yamaha has agreed to loan a range of acoustic and digital pianos, which will be rotated on an annual basis as part of Yamaha's institutional loan program. These include: three P22 45" professional upright pianos, three U1 48" professional upright pianos and three CVP-307 and four CVP-309 Clavinova digital pianos. These instruments will be sold in an annual sale and replaced with new pianos at no additional cost to the facility.
"Because the Center will serve as an educational and cultural resource for the whole community, Yamaha is especially pleased to partner with Carnival Center for the Performing Arts," states Yamaha Piano Division General Manager Paul Calvin. "We are honored that our outstanding musical instruments will be a major part of the Center's broad range of educational activities for audiences of all ages."
Carnival Center for the Performing Arts is Miami-Dade County's largest ever public/private-sector partnership, and one of the most comprehensive performing arts facilities in the United States Under the leadership of president and CEO Michael C. Hardy, Carnival Center will serve as a Miami venue not only for its four resident companies (Concert Association of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony), but also for many smaller South Florida arts organizations that will perform in its theaters on a regular basis, as well as for the finest popular and classical performances from around the world.
"With performance facilities never before seen in Miami, Carnival Center will offer South Florida audiences the best and most diverse in theater, music, and dance," said Hardy. "Our dedication to entertain, challenge and educate all segments of the community will be enhanced greatly by the high quality of Yamaha's instruments. We look forward to a long and rewarding partnership."
The terms of the agreement also call for Yamaha to provide assistance in the establishment of recreational music-making programs within the Center facilities. Carnival Center will also be a site for remote master classes, clinics and recitals using the advanced performance-reproducing capabilities of the Disklavier piano. Other Yamaha education programs the Center is exploring for future use include: "Yamaha Corporation of America's Summer Technology Sessions," which will assist local music teachers in expanding and updating their teaching skills, and the "Say Yes to Music" outreach program for local students and parents.
"The opening of this Center represents an exciting new chapter in the cultural life of Miami," states Piano Music Center's Tony Siciliano, the local retailer which placed the fleet. "It has been gratifying to collaborate with the Center and provide them with the best possible instruments to suit their needs."
