DRUMSTICK SPINOLOGY is a book devoted to spinning drumsticks. Drummers will now be able to add a variety of "visual effects" to their live performances. See below for an overview of the book. Another interesting application of the book is "finger aerobics". It is a great way to develop your fingers strength and dexterity, and can be used by all instrumentalists, painters, typists, sculptors, etc, or anyone who needs fast, supple, agile finger and hand control. Spinning drumsticks and drumming are two different worlds bound by only one thing... the sticks. By constantly working with the drumsticks you'll see that your finger control actually improves in several ways. While familiarizing your hands and mind with the size, weight, and feel of the stick, you'll be relaxing and developing the muscles of the fingers and wrists. I have been playing drums and guitar professionally for several years. Stick spinning has become my greatest warm up before a performance. And for me it's also a "Zen" practice. The fluidity, precision, and overall aesthetic of the sticks flowing around my fingers, makes it a great way to relax, and always feel a contact with my drumming (even if my drums are packed far away in the equipment truck). Drumstick Spinology is also a great "sport" to practice because it doesn't make any noise. So as long as you don't drop the sticks you can spin for hours in silence. Imagine that
a quiet drummer!! The techniques and method described within will not only give you the tools to develop spinning drumsticks and create your own spins, but will help you to expand your repertoire and develop your style on the stage by adding to your performance as a drummer and musician.
