Drum Workshop and Berklee College of Music Extend Long-Term Relationship.
In conjunction with the recent dedication of a new practice facility that will serve over 500 drum students and feature over two-dozen DW drumsets, leading American drum manufacturer Drum Workshop and the world-renowned Berklee College of Music have jointly announced an extension of the mutually beneficial relationship that both have enjoyed for over 20 years.
“By filling the needs of our faculty and students, DW has helped Berklee remain the world’s largest percussion education program,” comments Dean Anderson, chair of the Berklee percussion department. “In addition to the 26 sets in our new practice building, we have several other DW drumsets throughout the college. This has allowed us to give our students the opportunity to play on the highest quality, most professional instruments available and has been an important part of their education.”
“Having our drums at Berklee has provided us the invaluable impact and insight of the world’s best drummers and teachers”, adds DW president, Don Lombardi. “We look forward to continuing our long and beneficial relationship with this outstanding music education program.”
Berklee alumni include such world-renowned drummers as Vinnie Colaiuta, JR Robinson, Steve Smith, Cindy Blackman, Harvey Mason, Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Terry Lyne Carrington and Will Calhoun.
