Evans reamps prepak packaging and adds will kennedy snare pak

One of the hallmarks of Evans drumheads is the fact that the company is never static–products and packaging are being upgraded constantly to give drummers the best line of goods possible. Evans has introduced new PrePak packaging to continue these efforts in January of 2001.

The PrePak, developed by Evans in 1997, and since copied by other drumhead manufacturers, includes a selection of Evans’ most popular heads in the most common drum size configurations to fit a variety of playing styles and drums. Nine different PrePaks are currently available from Evans, and the line has become a top-seller in music dealerships around the world.

Now, Evans is revamping the PrePak packaging to bring it to a higher level. The new packaging is attractive and eye-catching, and self-sells, while taking up less space than the present packaging. It also features Evans’ helpful tuning tips on the back, along with our new Sound Spectrum chart, which shows the Evans line of heads in an easy-to-read chart that visually presents where each head lies in the spectrum of warmth versus brightness and openness versus focus. A new plastic shell prevents static build-up and profile windows show the construction of each head.

Evans has also teamed up with Grammy-nominated drummer Will Kennedy and acclaimed drum and drumhead designer Bob Gatzen to develop the Will Kennedy Snare Pak. The Will Kennedy Snare Pak includes two 14" B14ST Super Tough Snare Drumheads and one 14" S14H30 Snare Side Hazy 300 head, all in Evans new PrePak packaging. Also included as an added value, is a 20-minute video clip from the latest Warner Bros. "Inspiring Drummers" video series, Be A Drumhead, featuring Will Kennedy and Bob Gatzen. The Will Kennedy Snare Pak will only be available for a limited time.

"Sales of our PrePak line have been increasing from the start, they’re becoming some of our top-sellers," says Evans Brand Manager Michael Robinson. "They really are a great value, and the fact that they’ve been copied so exactly by other companies is pretty flattering to us. It really shows just what a good idea they are. Now, our new packaging makes our PrePaks even easier to sell, and gives more information to the consumer. We’ll see how long it takes the other companies to copy that."
