Yamaha introduces russ miller signatur snare drum wedges
Interchangeable Wedges Ideal for Latin and Hip-Hop Backbeat. NASHVILLE–Yamaha Drums debuts four Russ Miller signature wedges to complement any Yamaha drum set. Available in October, all designed differently to give the user flexibility of sounds for various types of music.
The RMGW (Groove-Wedge) is 19-ply Vintage wood hoop, cut to approximately 6 in. - 7 in. in length and mounts to the lugs on the side of a snare drum. This wedge creates a unique cross-stick, especially on smaller piccolo to sopranino snare drums where the smaller diameter makes it difficult to play a cross-stick.
The RMJW (Jingle-Wedge) is identical to the Groove Wedge, but has four sets of Phosphor Bronze jingles mounted to it, giving the snare drum a Hip-Hop sounding backbeat.
The RMCW (Cascara Wedge) is a 7-ply all-Maple side percussion board that can be mounted on the side of any tom. This allows playing on the floor tom without damaging the drum.
The RMCJW (Cascara Jingle-Wedge) includes the same features of the Cascara wedge but adds four sets of Phosphor Bronze jingles.
All wedges use wing nuts to easily interchange them on the snare drum or tom tom.
"Working with Russ Miller to create these signature wedges gave us a better understanding of the needs of musicians whose music spans from the groove beats of Hip-Hop to the sounds of Latin music," states Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums.
