New Hand Percussion Djembes from Ayotte
Ayotte Music is now selling Hand Percussion directly from their web site. The first items are Hand Percussion Djembes, which are hand-crafted in the Pacific Northwest.
Hand-crafted in the Pacific Northwest out of African Mahogany. These drums are hybrids of similar ones from West Africa, Senegal, Mali, Guinea & the Ivory Coast.
Each djembe is finished with tung oil, and hand-sanded between each coat. The inside of the drum is treated with linseed oil, which seals the shell to protect it from moisture.
The heads are from top quality goat skins from Mali or the Ivory coast. The tuning rope is made from 5mm nylon weave, the same material that is used in climbing rope, meaning it won’t stretch. The black color of the rope will compliment the natural mahogany finish. A triple-ring tuning system holds the skin more securely, makes the drum easier to tune and hides the edge of the skin.
