Yamaha bows Paul Leim signature snare drums
Two Models Echo Drumming Legend’s Distinctive Style and Sound NASHVILLE–Yamaha Drums has developed two signature snare drum models in collaboration with drumming great Paul Leim which will debut at Summer NAMM 2000. Targeted to the professional and career drummer, the 14 x 5 1/4-in. SD-455PL and 14 x 6 1/4-in. SD-465PL echo the sound that has made Leim a major force in the worlds of recording, live performance, television and motion pictures.
"We are proud of our association with Paul Leim," says Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "He has not limited himself stylistically, and as a result, has left his mark on nearly every corner of the musical spectrum. He has accomplished what aspiring drummers only dream about."
Both models feature lustrous dark chrome-over-brass shells and one-piece, gold-plated lugs that provide defined attack and a bright timbre suitable for any live or studio application. Zinc die-cast hoops with a black chrome finish provide solid rim shots, and 30-strand snares offer the utmost in sensitivity.
"The Paul Leim models are some of the best-looking snares in our snare drum line," says David Jewell, product manager, Yamaha Drums. "They are truly a translation of this drummer’s incredible experience, sound and style."
Paul Leim has compiled an enviable track record of credits in the worlds of television, motion picture soundtracks, live performance and the recording studio. His thousands of studio sessions have garnered over 125 certified gold and platinum albums for Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, Shania Twain and Lyle Lovett, among others. Motion picture credits include the popular Dirty Dancing and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi soundtracks; television credits include "The Fall Guy," "Spenser for Hire," "Growing Pains," the Grammys® and The American Music Awards. Leim is also the founder of workingdrummer.com, an online resource website.
