Tama's designers selected the 5-¸ x 14 in. shell diameter because of its wide tonal versatility. Both hi-pitched, piccolo-type tunings and looser low pitch settings can be achieved. Steel shells are prized for their sonic power, consistency, and superior strength. A special center ridge makes Tama's Swingstar steel shell even stronger. Bass Spur Brackets Swingstar's spur system makes sure that the bass drum stays put even during the most physical performances. The new design features 2 cast pieces for optimum stability and strength. The spur tips are switchable from spike to rubber, and when it's time to pack up, you can even fold up the spurs without removing them from the bracket. Accu-Tune Hoops Tama's Accu-Tune hoops have it all. Their hi-tech material offers both lighter weight and faster, more stable tuning than traditional metal hoops. Since Accu-Tune hoops use tension bolts instead of clawhooks and T-rods, head changes and packing up are a breeze. A special groove at the bottom of the hoop offers easy and secure pedal connection even when the bass drum is angled. Omnisphere Tom Holder Swingstar by Tama utilizes the MTH500 Omniball bass drum tom mount for easy adjustment and rock-solid stability. With its rock-solid stability, Tama's Omniball system has been acclaimed by pro drummers for well over 20 years. With Swingstar's new MTH500 Omniball system double tom holder, you can achieve almost any angle by simply loosening one T-bolt.
