Yamaha Packages Dave Weckl Set-up Video With Selected Drum Kits
With the Stage Custom and the recent introduction of YD Series, Yamaha provides beginning drummers with affordable, high-quality acoustic drums. As an added bonus, Yamaha Drums will package these kits (starting in February 2001) with a set-up video from renowned drummer and educator, Dave Weckl.
In the 40-minute VHS tape, Weckl provides beginners with information on proper unpacking, assembly and maintenance, plus an excerpt from his latest instructional video from Carl Fischer Video. This video will be shown by Yamaha Drums at Winter NAMM 2001.
"Dave Weckl's approach to setting up and caring for drums is logical and simple, and is great for beginning drummers," says Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "It's like a personal lesson from one of the greats."
Weckl, a Yamaha artist, began drumming professionally at age 18. After gaining accolades as a sideman for jingles, soundtracks and top recording sessions, he went on to work with a variety of artists, most notably Chick Corea's "Elektric" and "Acoustic" bands. With six albums of his own, Weckl's dynamic drumming and innovative use of combining electric and acoustic drums has brought him worldwide recognition. Weckl is also very involved with the teaching aspect of the music business, conducting many seminars and classes, in addition to releasing many instructional/performance videos and audio tapes.
