FiberPlex 3 way Fiber Optic Digital Audio and Data Systems on AES
FiberPlex to Demonstrate LightViper “3-way” Fiber Optic Digital Audio and Data Systems on AES Convention Floor

FiberPlex, Inc., will be hosting a live, in-booth demonstration of its new LightViper VIS-4832 AES Digital fiber optic snake as well as its new LightViper EF2 Ethernet Snake during the AES Convention. The demonstration will include a 3-way link originating from the FiberPlex exhibit and connect to active components in the Aphex and Aviom exhibit booths.
In the Aphex booth (708), the 1788A digital mic pre-amps will be connected via AES digital outputs to the FiberPlex LightViper VIS-4832 digital snake head. The digital signals will be carried by a fiber optic cable to the FiberPlex booth (1121), where they will enter the LightViper VIM-1832 mixer box. From the mixer box these signals will be output AES digital directly into a Yamaha DM1000 digital mixing console via Yamaha MY16AE cards. In addition, the Aphex 1788RC remote controller, which will reside in the FiberPlex booth, will feed Ethernet control data back through the Ethernet port of the LightViper system to the Aphex booth, providing remote control of the Aphex 1788A mic pre-amps as well.
In addition, the demo program signal will be fed from the LightViper booth through the Yamaha DM1000 console via the Aviom 16/O-Y1 Yamaha A-Net Card, through the new LightViper EF2 Ethernet snake*, and into the Aviom Pro16 Monitor Mixing System in the Aviom booth (1154 & 1155).
* The LightViper EF2 “Ethernet snake” will accept 2 independent channels of 10/100 Ethernet via (2) RJ-45 receptacles and convert them to (2) fiber optic transmit / receive pairs. Each unit can be operated as standard Ethernet using transmit (TX) / receive (RX) pairs, but will also operate as (2) channels of single direction Ethernet (TX only) or thirdly, as a combination of both.
