Hi, I'd just like peoples opinions on what hey think is a better guitar, an Epiphone les paul standard Ebony or a Fender Telecaster black? Also I would like to know what people think are the best pickups for a Epiphone Les paul standard? as I have one but want the pickups improved. . . . Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :D | Tonsofblues ğmy Profile ğmy Messages ğmy Reviews |

Man o man, where to start. What type of music do you like? What type of amp to do have? How much do you want to spend? It's amazing what you can do by changing your amp, pickups, etc. You can completely change your sound. | Tonsofblues ğmy Profile ğmy Messages ğmy Reviews |

Hey there, Personally I'd say a tele, basically because I've got one and I love it! it's all down to personal opinion, I will admit, without a decent amp behind it, it's distorted sound is a bit weak. but. . . the clean sound is ace, so precise and tight. With an epiphone les paul, again a good guitar, but a totally different beast, the humbucking pickups provide a nice beefy tone and copes with distortion well, the clean sound is also very good. It's all down to personal taste, I'd say a tele for classic rock and clean work (just think of artists that use these guitars and it gives you a fair idea). Then the epiphone for the slightly heavier end of the scale. . . They are both fairly versatile guitars, they'll 'do' more or less any style of music gives the correct amp settings etc As far as pickups go, EMGs will give you some seriously hot tones, not sure about their clean tones becasue I always give them a good seeing to (heavy distortion) Seymour duncans are also good. . . . . . So are bar knuckle (if you have a budget that'll stretch that far!) As I said earlier, check out what gear your favourite artists use if you're after that kind of sound. But be carefull not to completely try to replicate their sound, then you lose your personal twist you have to your sound Best bet is to experiment! I'll shut up now and let you get on! Good luck bud!
