Hi my name is amber and I am 14. me and my friend alex who is also 14 would really like to become singers. we would like to sing together but at the end of the day it depends who you like. I have been singing to my self and done a bit of karoke but I can never seeem to stay at the right pitch. some days I can but some days I cant can you help me?? | Lgmike

Hey Amber,
Becoming a "singer" is far more than learning to stay on pitch, although that is a definite prerequisite. If you want to sing professionally, you will have a very long and hard road ahead, but I wish you luck as you pursue it.
As far as learning to sing on pitch, can you tell when you're not matching pitch? I would suggest learning piano as it tends to help develop one's ear. You should also learn to sightsing as this will not only improve your musical ear, but will also open you up to probably 99+% of all singing jobs in the music industry! (I. E. , session singing, making auditions, etc. ) | Shellshock

I agree, if you can tell when you not on key that's a great start. Just watch American Idol, a lot of the contestants can't even tell when they are off key. The single most important thing when starting out is persistance and redundantcy keep practicing the same song, take notes on where your running into trouble and practice those passages.
