I have bought a turntable on e-Bay - an AKAI AM-M770 - but my amp - a brand new NAD C320BEE - has to be turned to maximum volume for the records to be even halfway audible.

Can anyone suggest how I solve this volume problem? Or are the items simply incompatible?

I have checked the spec's of your Amp. It does not have a phono input. The input marked 'disc' is just another line level input. You do most definately need a separate phono Preamp to listen to your records.

I don't know these items. But I remember from years ago the turtable needed to be connected to it's own special input on the amp. Is there a normal line out level on the turntable?

You should be using the phono input on your amp. if you don't have one, you'll need to buy a separate phono stage

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a 'disc' channel which I am using. That obvisouly isn't the problem. Anyone have any other suggestions?
