Thank you in advance if you can tell me anything about this Jackson that I have. I dont know much about guitars, so I will list all that I can about this one. I could probably email some pics if needed, I dont have a way to host pictures right now.

Double cutaway body design.
22 frets.
6 on one side tuners
EMG pick ups (2 small ones and a big one?) all black.
Kahler tremelo (black).
Pearl dot inlay.
Bolt on neck, with SN 2588, PO box 245, San Dimas CA 91773 on the plate.
Guitar is all black with clouds and lightening painted on it. Very well done, so would guess it was done professionally.
Has one volume knob and 3 toggle switches near the knob. Switches are only 2 stage (on and off, maybe?).

Also, I removed the plate on the back and seen where a nine volt battery can be plugged in. Does this mean the electronics are 'active'?

Thanks a ton for any help. I'm such a guitar newbie!

Jackson Pro bolt-on: SN 924918 on the neck-plate.
Any ideas as to where this one was made as none of the information posted here to date seems to cover it?
Surely somebody-somewhere is in the know
Thanks,
John

NOTES: All Randy Rhoads neck-thru's were given "RR****" serial numbers from 1983 to the spring of 1990. After that point, only custom Rhoads guitars were given "RR****" serial numbers; any production Rhoads guitars were considered "USA" models and given "U0****" serial numbers. Any neck-thru body guitar that was not a Randy Rhoads model was given a "Jnnnn" number. This included Soloists, King V's, Kelly's, Concert Basses etc. After the spring of 1990, only custom neck-thru's were given "J" numbers; any production Soloists, Kelly's, King V's etc. were also considered "USA" models and given "U0****" numbers. There are exceptions to this rule. Sometimes you will find production neck-thru's from the 90's with "J" or "RR" numbers instead of "U" numbers; this usually means it was a prototype of some kind made in the custom shop. There are a scattering of Rhoads guitars out there with "J" serial numbers instead of the traditional "RR" number (oops!).

NOTE 1: There were approximately 750 Bolt-on Charvels made from 1979-1981 without serial numbers. The first serial number used was a Strat-style guitar with the Heineken beer bottle label painted on it, November 9th, 1981. These neck plates say "Charvel PO Box 245, San Dimas, Ca, 91773". The last Early Charvel was#5491, built in January of 1986. Neck plates with numbers 5492 and up were supposedly destroyed but some of them do turn up from time to time. . . BUYER BEWARE!! These are not real Jacksons!

NOTE 2: From 1987 to 1989 Jackson Custom Shop bolt on neck guitars were not assembled in strict serial number order. Serial numbers 5234 to 5999 do not exist (due to an error in the stamping machine). These neck plates say "Jackson, 4452 Airport Drive. Ontario, CA 91761". They are still in use today.

NOTE 3: Since the Jackson Junior (JJ) is the only Jackson bolt on without a neck plate, these serial numbers can be found stamped into the fretboard.

Other Note: Charvel bolt ons were discontinued and replaced with Jackson bolt ons in 1986. This coincided with the introduction of the Japanese Charvels. In the spring of 1990, the four digit Jackson neck plate was reserved for custom instruments only. All production bolt on instruments were given the six-digit USA series neck plate.

I HOPE THAT THIS WILL HELP YOU. . . . . You should be able to determine with the sn what model it is. . . . Good luck! mike o

Hello, I need help identifing my guitar and the worth of it:
I have a black Jackson HB-S-HB pickups (by jackson). I think that the fretboard is rosewood. The back of the neck is some kind of light wood, but I dont think its maple (a bit darker and stronger).
The serial number is 9402150 and the treshold cover says: FDR-94. 24 jambo frets. jackson tuners. Floyd rose licensed
And JACKSON logo is carved on the bridge plate.
I really need some help with it and I would be so thankful
If someone can even direct me or tell me how I can check a japanese serial number. tnx alot and rock on. b

Okay. Here's a test for you.
Early 1980's Charvel. Strat Style, 2 Cobalt pickups, Floyd Rose locking tremelo, Maple bolt on neck with Jackson tuners. Back plate says Charvel PO Box 2344 Ft. Worth, TX 76113 USA Serial No. 271492

I believe it might have been a Model 3A?
What is this?

My charvel/jackson has a 7 digit serial #. Duz any1 know what that is about? I was wondering what it was. I dont really know about the San Dimas are. My guitar looks kinda like a stratocaster. I saw the San Dimas on the Charvel site, and the only similarity to that pic and a strat is the shape, but there were no other simialrities. So I ruled out San Dimas. But what about 7 digit seial numbers? What year was that is?

Please note that the chart above only refers to USA models. Those serials have nothing to do with the models that are being made overseas.

* USA models have four digit serials (preceded by one or two letters), like the chart says. USA Neck-through models have the serial stamped into the fretboard, while most USA bolt-ons have it etched into the neck plate.

Jackson guitars with longer serials were either made in Japan, India or Korea:

* All _neck through_ Jackson imports were made in Japan, and have a six digit serial stamped into the fretboard behind the last fret. Some claim that the first digit indicates what year it was made (2 for 92, etc), but that information is quite unreliable.

* The Japanese bolt-on model Jacksons have 7 digit serial numbers, starting with 9. The serial is stamped into the neck plate, unless it's a plate-less model (Kelly) - in which case the serial is on a sticker on the back of the headstock. There is no known way to determine the year of manufacture of a bolt-on import Jackson, except by comparing its features to old catalogues.

* Bolt-on Jacksons with 8 or 9 digit serials were made in either India or Korea. These serials start with 1 or 0 and can usually be found on the neck plate. The production in Korea was only during a limited time, and I think only the "Performer" line was made there, before they moved it to Japan. So most of the guitars whose serials match these criteria were probably built in India.

* If the neck plate has an address that says "San Dimas" or "Ontario", it comes from a USA built guitar.

* If the neck plate says "Ft. Worth", it's a Japanese built guitar. While the factory was in Japan, the office was in Ft. Worth, Texas. The first year for these was 1986, when the Japanese factory was established. There are no earlier import Jacksons/Charvels than that. The more recent Jackson/Charvel imports don't have any address at all on the neck plate.

No neck-through Jackson ever had the serial number on the headstock - nor a five digit serial.

Small Problem with your information, I have a Jackson with a 7 digit serial number 1051811 which would make it a japanese guitar except for the fact that it starts with a 1, which would make it either korean or indian. Any help finding out where it was made would be awesome. . maybe your info was a little backwards? Thx

Well. . . I was wrong. . The treshold cover says JDR-94 not FDR-94. still I would like to know if there is a way to find out the kind of woods used to build the guitar. and if anyone can tell me how much its worth (apx. ). I would like to know as much as I can about it before I decide if to keep or sell it.
Thank you all. and rock on

The guitar you have is pretty obvious. You have a jackson JDR-94. Made in Japan in '94 (as the name suggests XD) this is a very sturdy guitar. If you take care of it this baby can last you for many years to come with out any problems. Its good for heavier rifts. the worth of your guitar is around $400-$1000 Canadian if it's in good condition. I'm actually getting myself one of these. Happy Playing

Here's one that will throw off all of your known facts about Jacksons, I have a Jackson that says "Limited '88" on the 12th fret, it has 24 jumbo frets, and the last 4 are scalloped. The plate on the back has the San Dimas address, and the serial number looks like this "88 376". Oh and it has a reverse headstock. Any Ideas??? The best I could figure is that the custom shop was still open in 88 where they made a few guitars, and mine is number 376 in that year. I've seen a picture of a guitar that looks like mine on the Jackson Custom Shop site. My problem is I can't prove or disprove any of my theories. Is there anyone who can help?????

Thanks

That is an Authentic '88 limited and they were custom orders #ed 88 instead of 000 Which all Fusions have. All other Jackson U. S. A. 'S have no other digits but the numbers

Jason,
I recently came to own a Jackson guitar. . . what I presume to be a Jackson USA SL1 Soloist. . . although this particular guitar differs from the picturs I have seen. . . I found it at a pawn shop for 106$. It looks exactly like a SL1 Soloist. . . and no other.

It matches a SL1 Soloist
The 24th fret has a inlay.
It has a reversed headstock.
It has reversed Shark fin inlay

Hey guys, I picked up a very dusty second-hand Jackson in a garage sale on the weekend.

The headstock says Jackson Performer, the truss rod cover says PS-2. The guitar is a strat-shape with a strat-style bridge on it (not like a floyd rose) and the SN is 1004764.

Needs a bit of TLC still, but it's a lovely guitar.

Any info about it would be hugely appreciated :)
