The Coach House is an intimate venue 30 minutes from the Anaheim Convention Center, where the winter NAMM 2001 music show takes place January 18-21.Music Man guitar and bass greats Steve Morse Band and the Dregs, Steve Lukather, Albert Lee, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Tony Levin, and Dave LaRue will perform, along with the winners of the "Best Guitarist and Bass Player on the Web Contest," sponsored by Ernie Ball Music Man and Sonic Foundry. A panel of professionals chose the grand prize winners from among the top guitarists and bassists initially selected by online voters. "This is the first contest of its kind," said Sterling Ball of the Ernie Ball Co., "and gave talented musicians the chance to be heard. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there, however, the Web helps to even out the field these days. We look for opportunities to showcase emerging musicians, putting on everything from the Battle of the Bands to the Best Player on the Web Contest." Thousands of music fans went to Sonic Foundry’s acidguitar.com web site in order to vote and check out new music. Meanwhile, contestants used the "Acid Express" demo software to create their music and post it online. They can also continue to use the demo software to record music and make it available online. The winner in each category will also receive an Ernie Ball/Music Man guitar or bass, strings, and accessories and Sonic Foundry's line of digital audio products, including: ACID PRO 2.0, Vegas Video, Sound Forge 4.5, CD Architect 4.0, Acoustic Mirror, Noise Reduction 2.0, XFX 1, 2, and 3, and five loop libraries of his/her choice.
