Vox Pathfinder Combo Amplifier 15 watt, 1 x 8 in.Calling this Vox Pathfinder a practice amp is kind of like calling a diamond a really old piece of coal. The name fits, but there's so much more. The Vox name itself is legendary. And we're happy to report that this junior member of the elite family lives up to that name. 15 watts of power drive an 8 in. Vox Blue Bulldog speaker. The maroon pre-amp panel on the top of the amp is in the classic Vox style, with "pointer" knobs that control gain, volume, and bass. Also, as on the vintage Vox combos, a gain boost switch is provided. True to its form, there is also an onboard tremolo effect, with controls for speed and depth. A footswitch jack will accept an optional footswitch to control the tremolo and boost functions. Professional touches here that are usually not found on amps of this range include a line out jack for direct recording, and an extension speaker output. For privacy, a headphone jack is also provided. For a beginner playing rock or pop, this is a wonderful choice. Vox amps have never gone out of style since their introduction, so any student will find use for it no matter level of proficiency they rise to. We would not recommend this amp for jazz or country students. Studios wishing to add that "Vox sound" and still keep an eye on the budget should also consider this fine small amp.
