What is a Music Scale?

A scale is a definition in music theory. In general you don't need that much music theory in music, but it is very helpful when you have to help out a singer or keyboard player when the song is not working. Or of course when you are writing a song, or trying to add more than just a guitar track or riff.

Although we wont cover all aspects of scales, like history, modes, exotic scales and many other subjects, we will show you in a few simple steps how scales are used in music and what you do need to know and learn about scales. And after that we'll look at more examples in later lessons to show you some more advanced stuff.

Ok let's start with the basic aspects of a music scale:
