Yamaha set to introduce drop 6 version of Ty Tabor signature guitar
–RGXTTD6 Model Responds to Down-tuning Trend With Longer Scale and Heavier Strings–

NASHVILLE–Following the recent introduction of the Ty Tabor signature model RGXTT electric guitar, Yamaha Corporation of America and the noted King’s X guitarist have teamed up to create the Drop 6 version of the successful model. Scheduled for release at Summer NAMM 2000, the RGXTTD6 is the perfect guitar for heavy rock, classic rock and metal guitarists utilizing longer scales and a special string gauge for down tuning.

"The RGXTT Drop 6 is great for live performances, and its design is based on the very popular down-tuning trend that is so important for the heavy sounds of music today," states Ken Dapron, Yamaha Guitar Development manager. "You don’t have to re-learn how to play guitar on a wider neck with an extra string in order to tune down to B. Riffs can be played on the Yamaha Drop 6 without changing right-hand attack and left-hand finger position."

The longer 26.25" scale and heavier string gauges of the RGXTTD6 are the key to the Drop 6 concept. This new model shares the same construction, materials and cosmetics with the popular Ty Tabor RGXTT model. It features a body design with extremely tapered wings and a stepped Maple center (Tapered Tune System)–important to the frequency Q with a strong focus on the low-mids. The RGXTTD6 uses Seymour Duncan pickups, Wilkinson® VS100 Tremolo, a 26.25" fast Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard and a pitched 3D headstock. Available in Red Burst, Green Burst and Purple Burst, the RGXTTD6 will begin shipping in November.
