Vox, a legend in sound. There isn't a classic record from the sixties that didn't have a Vox product on it, or so it seems. The sound of Vox has been a coveted thing ever since those heady days. Everyone wanted a Vox amp back then due to the fact that a certain English group used them. Yes, those four lads from Liverpool — Vox even named a series of amps for them. The basic Vox amp that everybody used and wanted was the AC30, and it has been reborn here in modern fashion but in the old tradition.

This amplifier is a beautiful reproduction of the original model. Attention to detail has been kept high, right down to the famous diamond fret cloth. The Top Boost controls are included on the control panel as on later original models.

Packaged with a pair of Vox Celestion Blue Alnico speakers, this amplifier is the Vox sound and look reborn. There's been much debate over the accuracy of this modern Vox offering in comparison to vintage Jennings Musical Instrument (the original Vox designers and manufacturers) models. It is believed that the current Vox amplifier has captured the Vox sound as it was back in the 1960's. Direct sound comparisons between vintage JMI AC30's and this Vox amplifier are amazing. Taking into account that the all vintage JMI AC30 amplifiers' Celestion Alnico speakers are at or near their effective Alnico magnet half life, a case could be made that this model may actually sound closer to what a new JMI model did when they were being manufactured in the 1960's.

This is not a heavy metal amp. It's not for those who are looking for the big, big sound, rather it's a specialty piece. If you're playing jazz or if you're playing anything that needs a really clean sound, check out a different amp. But if you're looking for the original retro sound that sparked the British invasion, then this amp is for you. The Vox sound is a clean and crunchy sound, distinctive amongst all other amps. It's great for rock and pop of any generation.
