Easy Classical Guitar Songs: Beethoven Ode to Joy

This next easy classical guitar song by Beethoven is a great exercises and shows some of the aspects of the classical guitar style. Look at the guitar tab and sheet music of this song. The guitar is actually playing two parts at once. In previous lessons we already covered some of the finger picking techniques. And this is where you need them.

The guitar plays a bass note, which is really the low part of the chord. The higher part is both a melody and the higher part of the chord. Try playing the first double note with either your thumb and ring finger. But if you like to play with a pick you can still play this song. Use your pick for the lower bass note and the ring finger for the higher note. The next notes can be played with the guitar pick again.
