This next guitar sheet music and tabs example shows a great 4 note pattern guitar scale exercise in the A minor pentatonic scales. Try playing it with different rhythms and at different tempos.
See the last two guitar notes? The 10th fret is officially not in the basic first position for the A minor pentatonic scale. But it is necessary to complete the pattern and fill the bar. You can also try and play it backwards. To play the notes that are shown try moving your pinky up and down (NOT easy!), but that's what makes this a great exercise.
