What are Guitar Jazz Chords? 6, 7, 9, 11, 13 / augmented sus and diminished

Jazz Guitar Chords are usually very complex chords. Most are very difficult to play not too mention they are not that easy to remember.

Although there are no chords that are only used in jazz music, there are quite a few chords that are not used in many other music styles. Most music styles only use standard minor and major chords, some 7th chords, even some 6th chords and sus2 and sus4 chords. Other complex chords are hardly used because they make it more difficult to write and create melodies and harmonies. In Jazz difficult chords are considered both a standard and a challenge, especially because it brings more emotion and makes the music more of an art form.

Jazz chords are used to compliment solos, build entire chord progressions or direct movement. Every chord has a type of character that makes it useful. Some help in creating great harmonies others help to return to another chord, or the beginning of a chord progression.
