Delta blues and Mississippi blues on Guitar
Delta blues, and also called Mississippi blues, is a type of blues style of playing that came out of the Delta region of Mississippi. The place where cotton was produced in the state.
Most Delta blues is played on an acoustic guitar. The first guitar blues recording is in the delta blues style from the 1920. In the early years delta blues was recorded with hollow-bodied acoustic guitars. The electric guitar was used in the blues in the late 1940s.
Delta guitar blues players typically use a finger picking style as a rhythm and with solos to back up their own vocals. The Delta blues was later followed by the Chicago and modern electric blues styles. Delta blues can also be played on electric guitar. But the style is typical for one single guitar. On electric guitar you usually have another guitar and bass and piano playing too.
