SLS Loudspeakers RLA/3 Ribbon line array Speaker system
SLS Loudspeakers has announced that they will debut the RLA/3 ribbon line array speaker system at INFOCOMM 2004, Booth #4684. The system is configured using multiple lightweight and compact LS6500 modules that utilize the companies’ own unique ribbon driver technology. In addition, the RLA/3 is targeted towards corporate, sanctuary and club venues where the placement of line arrays are challenged by either size or budget constraints.
“The RLA/3 is basically a splay-able version of our unique and popular LS8695 Columnar Line Array which is now being used by NBC’s ‘The Today Show,’” states SLS’ director of marketing Jeff Lowry. “The RLA/3 shares many of the same features and components of the LS8695 and arrives in the marketplace at under $800.00 per module, making it one of the most cost-effective line array solutions available to date.”
The LS6500, the basis for the RLA/3 line array, features a 100-watt RMS, 6.5” woofer and an SLS PRD500 5” Planar Ribbon Driver in a compact bass reflex trapezoid enclosure. The modules offer a frequency response of 80-20kHz and horizontal coverage of 110 degrees. All of the necessary rigging is included with the system.
Equipped with a PRD500 planar ribbon driver that has extremely high output evenly distributed over its entire radiating surface, the RLA/3 presents a coherent wave front that is ideal for energy transfer. The geometry of the array enables a virtually continuous line source to be created. System performance can be accurately predicted using the SLS’ LASS CAD modeling program.
The low-frequency section provides a sensitivity spec of 94dB (1W/1M) with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. The system handles 100 watts, yielding a continuous sound pressure level of 114dB with a peak performance rating of 120dB. The high-frequency section delivers 101dB (1W/1M) with nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and handles 50 watts RMS with a sound pressure level of 118dB reaching 127dB peaks.
Weighing 20 pounds and enclosed in a 13-Ply Baltic birch, black NeverMar enclosure, the RLA/3 measures 7.25 inches high in front (5.5 inches high in back), 14 inches wide and 10 inches deep.
