Mixing Monitor Basics
Mixing is not mastering! That is the first mistake many people make. They buy a monitoring setup which normally is used for mastering purposes. Although it is workable it is not the most logical step if you think about it. When you are mastering you want to hear basically a stereo track or multi-channel track that is already mixed. All a good mastering wants to do is try to optimize the sound for different sound systems. When you are mixing you don’t want to be mastering, unless you are trying to do both at once.
