ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney weds Heather Mills
In a tiny church in the Republic of Ireland the wedding ceremony of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney with ex-model Heather Mills took place. Although it was supposed to be a secret a few days before the wedding it was picked up by the media.
The couple turned down a £1.5 million ($2.2 million) offer from a magazine for exclusive coverage of the wedding. "An occasion like this is for everyone," according to Sir Paul's spokesman Geoff Baker. A single official wedding photo was made available to the media for £1,000 ($1,471 US) with the proceeds being donated to an anti-landmine charity, Adopt A Minefield UK.
