Yamaha Introduces Add-on CD Module for Disklavier Pianos
Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, will introduce the DCD1 Disklavier CD Player at Winter NAMM 2001. A compact unit, the DCD1 attaches underneath the control unit of a Disklavier piano, enabling the user to enjoy both the instrumental and vocal performances of top artists in the comfort of their own living room.
An add-on CD module for installation on earlier model Disklaviers, the DCD1 enables playback of audio/MIDI CDs, including Yamaha's PianoSoft™ PlusAudio software. These CDs make it possible to combine live piano performances with vocalists and instrumentalists. More than 20 music titles are now available for purchase, including selections from top artists such as Christopher Cross, Bob James, Frank Sinatra, and Dave Koz, as well as Christmas favorites, Broadway hits, Latin rhythms and classical standards.
"After-sales support is important to Yamaha," explains Piano marketing manager Paul Calvin. "By making the DCD1 available to all Disklavier owners, Yamaha keeps its valued customers up-to-date with Disklavier product enhancements in order to enjoy the growing selection of PianoSoft PlusAudio CDs."
With the technology of the DCD1, the Yamaha Disklavier now offers an entire spectrum of musical expression—a fine acoustic piano, the ability to record and play back performances on a 3.5-inch floppy disk, and a CD drive that enables the listening pleasure of combined vocal and instrumental performances to entertain piano enthusiasts and their guests.
