Yamaha Clavinova CLP970 Series Conquers Last Frontier for Digital Pianos
Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, announces the debut of the CLP970, the latest in the series of Clavinova digital pianos, featuring string resonance and sympathetic vibrations, enabling the piano to sound and feel more realistic than ever. The CLP970A, CLP970AM and CLP970AC are on display at Winter NAMM 2001.
Careful consideration was made by Yamaha of the complex resonances created when notes are played—one of the major factors in making an acoustic piano sound rich and full. The result is the CLP970—a combination of technology and fine craftsmanship enabling piano players to experience a richly detailed full-bodied sound.
"The CLP970 string resonance feature provides piano teachers and piano purists even more reasons to embrace digital pianos," said Electronic Keyboard marketing manager Craig Knudsen. "Its voice resonates, its beauty radiates and its music captivates."
The Clavinova CLP970's Dynamic Stereo Sampling (DSS) feature provides each key with multiple instrumental samples taken at various levels, from loud to soft, for dynamic selection according to touch on the keyboard. The result is a delicate tone and expression that is extremely similar to that of a grand piano.
In addition, the CLP970 Series includes a broad selection of stereo-sampled voices, including grand piano, harpsichord and organ, along with a host of other instruments, to offer an enormous palette of musical instrument sounds. A speaker system, that resides above the keyboard in a unique cabinet, was added to deliver the lifelike sound of newly-sampled instrument voices.
The CLP970 Series also has a built-in 16-track recorder that allows the Clavinova user to build multi-part arrangements instrument by instrument, storing up to 223 songs in one of the largest built-in internal song memories on any digital piano. For computer applications, the CLP970 offers 480 XG voices, making it ideal for creating orchestral-style arrangements.
The CLP970 Series also boasts unique features such as a "speaking" metronome in five different languages, and a "scat" voice where each note is activated by how hard or soft the keys are played.
Clavinova CLP970 Series digital pianos are available in Rosewood, Cherry and Mahogany cabinet finishes.
