New Piano software titles for disklavierSince January 1999, Yamaha Corporation of America’s Piano Division has added approximately 50 new titles to the PianoSoft Library for the Disklavier piano. The latest releases–available from dealers or at www.YamahaMusicSoft.com–have been designed to enhance the repertoire of the Disklavier’s XG format sound set, and include classics from the rock, seasonal, Latin, country, Broadway and soft pop genres. Yamaha now boasts the largest selection of titles available from any digital piano manufacturer. Rock and pop classics such as "Paint It Black," "Every Breath You Take," "Stop! In the Name of Love," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" share the spotlight with selections from perennial Broadway favorites like "The Sound of Music," "Guys and Dolls," and "Evita" in the new offerings. Unforgettable hits from Elvis Presley, Barry Manilow, The Judds, John Denver and Stevie Wonder round out the collection. Other highlights include "Majestic Hymns," "Hot Latin Nights," "Pop Go the Classics," and "Jazz Gems." For special occasions and seasonal variety, the collection includes "Sacred Christmas Solos" and "The Complete Wedding Album." "Yamaha has taken special consideration of reported sales trends, the diverse demographics, the favorite artists and musical tastes of Disklavier owners," notes Cathy Macbride, software department manager. "The new PianoSoft titles not only reflect all those attributes, but also augment the extensive capabilities of XG-compatible instruments." New and current PianoSoft releases utilize Yamaha’s XG format to bring the Disklavier to life. The artists who record these arrangements are both seasoned performers and experts in the XG system’s wide musical parameters, playing in real-time, without step-writing sequences or conventional multi-tracking. The result is a rendering which captures all the subtle nuances of a live performance. "This style of programming and arranging is becoming something of an art form in itself," notes Macbride. "A relatively small group of musicians has mastered the art of creating technically and musically superior renditions of favorite selections. A tremendous amount of time and care goes into their development and in the end, we hear life-like, beautiful music–not simply computer-generated music."
