Yamaha Clavinova CLP900 Series: Improved Clavinova Quality in an Affordable PackageYamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, adds the Clavinova CLP900 Series pianos to its award-winning line of Clavinova digital pianos. The CLP950, CLP930 and CLP920 surpass earlier models with dramatic improvements in piano tone and cabinet styling. The Clavinova CLP900 Series pianos are being featured at Winter NAMM 2001.The realistic piano sounds and other voices offered by the CLP900 Series are made possible by a vastly enlarged sample memory, as much as ten times greater than on previous CLP models, and all-new stereo piano samples. The CLP950 also offers a new, more powerful speaker system and a choice of richer, glowing Rosewood (CLP950), Mahogany (CLP950M) or Cherry (CLP950C) woodgrain finishes. The Rosewood finish on the CLP930 and CLP920 has also been upgraded. "The CLP950, CLP930 and CLP920 combine the newest Clavinova technology and an outstanding value," says Craig Knudsen, Electronic Keyboard marketing manager, Piano Division. "With an even richer piano tone, improved cabinetry and the keyboard touch that's made Clavinova the world's best line of digital pianos, you've got a magical combination. The broad selection of instrumental voices and realistic piano sound make the CLP900 Series ideal for home, worship or educational use." The CLP900 Series retains popular, time-tested features from its predecessors. The Clavinova's AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation actually varies the volume and timbre of sound according to the user's touch on the keyboard. The DSS (Dynamic Stereo Sampling) on the CLP950 includes multiple samples for each key, from loud to soft, resulting in an even more lifelike response to the user's style of playing. Special samples recreate nuances such as the resonance of a grand piano's soundboard, strings and cabinet, or the tonal variation at the moment a key is released. The CLP900 Series also features Yamaha's renowned GH (Graded Hammer) Keyboard, which recreates the feel of a real grand piano right down to the increased key weights in the lower registers. {950l.jpg While the Clavinova is first and foremost a digital piano, the CLP900 Series also offers a variety of lifelike organ, choir, harpsichord, vibraphone, string and bass voices to complete any performance or composition. The CLP950 and CLP930 include a built-in two-track recorder that lets users save a backing and solo performance together, or even save them externally to a computer or MIDI recorder. All three CLP900 models feature a sliding key cover. {930r.jpg In addition, the CLP900 Series offers extended polyphony; digital reverb to emulate a selection of room sizes; digital effects that allow the user to adjust the depth and timbre of the instrument's voice; dual mode and split mode play, which permit two instrument voices to operate simultaneously; and a personal computer interface that requires no special hardware, only a single cable.
