Yamaha Diskklavier MX series offers updated features

Yamaha Diskklavier MX series offers updated features
LOS ANGELES–As a sign of support for dealers who have contributed to the success and longevity of the product line, Yamaha Corporation of America will introduce the expanded Disklavier MX/MPX Series upright pianos at Winter NAMM 2000. The MX/MPX Series digital/acoustic pianos provide distinctive Disklavier features in a compact package, and now contain Yamaha’s XG sound set, a compact control unit and multi-track recording.
"MX Series users can now enjoy many of the same features found in a fully-loaded Disklavier grand system," notes Paul Calvin, Yamaha digital/acoustic piano marketing manager, Piano Division.
An important advancement, available in the MPX model, is the unique Quiet Mode. A sampled concert grand sound has been stored in 16 MB RAM, including 64-note polyphony. When Quiet Mode is activated, the hammers of the MPX do not physically strike the strings, but the onboard digital piano sound is routed through the speaker system, allowing the user to decrease the volume to low levels. Sound to the speakers can be completely cut off by plugging in headphones. This feature enables players to enjoy complete privacy and mute the piano sound while playing digital sounds from the keyboard–perfect for creating multi-track recordings. Even when the mute rail is engaged, the keyboard touch is not compromised, thanks to a patented "Quick Escape Action" design.
The MX Series includes Yamaha’s expansive new and improved XG sound set, a full spectrum of instrumental accompaniment for live performance or multi-track recording. This sound set is now accessible from the control panel for multi-track recording or live performance. All models now include multi-track recording for up to 16 tracks. A smaller control unit adds to the compact, yet elegant design of the Disklavier MX piano.
The Disklavier MX Series of pianos includes the following models:
MX1
MX22
MPX1
MX116
MX500
