Yamaha Celebrates With New Centennial Edition Grand PianoYamaha Corporation of America has been making grand pianos for 100 years, and to mark the occasion, visitors to Winter NAMM 2002 will get the first look at the C1 Centennial Edition, a special version of the popular 5'3" grand."I think it's fitting that on our 100th anniversary, we're commemorating the milestone with a special edition that improves upon one of our established models," says Paul Calvin, piano marketing manager. "Yamaha has always believed in constant innovation and improvement, and a special occasion like this is no time to rest on our laurels." The debut of the C1 Centennial Edition begins a year-long celebration of this milestone. The new piano looks to the future with a unique "slim rim" cabinet design that gives the instrument a lighter feel than a traditional grand. The two-tone polished ebony and champagne gold finish also contributes to the piano's departure from the standard mold. It will be available for purchase in June 2002. This commemorative piano embodies a tradition that began with Yamaha's first award-winning pianos more than a century ago, and continued with innovations such as the first Yamaha concert grand in 1950, the Disklavier in 1988, the Silent Series in 1993 and the turn-of-the-millennium Disklavier Pro 2000. The international reputation that Yamaha pianos enjoy today reflects this legacy of excellence, and Yamaha continues to challenge conventions and complacency to this day. On the inside, the C1 Centennial Edition offers the same quality features of the present C1 grand—with the Yamaha V-Pro plate, permanent crown solid soundboard, full-length ribs and other stability-enhancing design elements. + Post comment/question/reply
