Yamaha introduces georgian grand piano; second in American-designed GH1 SeriesYamaha introduces georgian grand piano; second in American-designed GH1 SeriesLOS ANGELES – Yamaha Corporation of America unveils the second furniture style entry in the American-designed GH1 line of acoustic grand pianos at Winter NAMM 2000. To be produced at Yamaha Music Manufacturing’s (YMM) Thomaston, Ga. facility, the striking GH1G model offers Georgian styling and a rich, dark red Mahogany finish with a high sheen. The designs for the beautiful GH1G were created by famed American furniture designer Bill Faber, who also designed the GH1FP French Provincial model, the first styled entry in the GH1 line showcased at last year’s NAMM show, and the successful M500 series of acoustic upright pianos. The GH1G will be manufactured in Yamaha’s most popular size-the 5’3 grand. Extending the GH1 line with our furniture style models offers more aesthetic choices for dealers, says Ray Reuter, Yamaha piano marketing manager. The French Provincial, and now the Georgian grand pianos competitively position Yamaha within a growing market segment. Yamaha only recently began producing furniture-designed pianos, and we’re confident that the GH1G will be as well received as the GHIFP before it. The GH1G possesses all the features associated with the Yamaha GH1 line, most notably permanent crown, solid spruce soundboard; full length ribs; V-pro plate; extruded aluminum action rails; balanced action; spruce keys; and the Yamaha Servicebond Assurance Program. Production will begin in April, 2000.
