LOS ANGELES – Yamaha Clavinova digital pianos were once again chosen by dealers across the country to receive the coveted Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) Dealers’ Choice Award for 1999 Digital Piano Line of the Year. Dealers voted the Clavinova best above all other competitors in the magazine’s seventh Dealers’ Choice poll. The 1999 honor makes the popular Clavinova line a six-time winner of the award.
This most recent distinction amplifies Yamaha’s proud tradition of excellence and lasting quality. More than a century of piano manufacturing expertise and innovative engineering stand behind the distinctive Yamaha Clavinova line. Its introduction in 1983 defined the digital piano industry, and the Clavinova has since become the marketplace leader. With its appeal prevalent among educators and students, the Clavinova digital piano’s ease-of-use and flexibility also makes it the perfect choice for any piano player.

In addition to its versatility, the Clavinova digital piano’s prominence can be directly attributed to its piano-like realism, low maintenance design and affordability. As the world leader in musical research and development, Yamaha is constantly improving and expanding Clavinova offerings to provide exciting new capabilities for musicians of all levels.
At this year’s Winter NAMM show, Yamaha will showcase its most recent additions to the line. The exciting and versatile CVP100 series offers realistic touch and tone and is equipped with several new features including: enhanced karaoke capabilities; Sweet Voices, additional memory enables longer and multiple samples of instrument sounds for truer realism; and Pitch Bend/Glide, for greater expressiveness.
In addition, Yamaha will also feature the seven models of the CLP800 series, which established a new standard for sonic realism and raised industry benchmarks when it introduced Dynamic Stereo Sampling (DSS), offering CD-quality sound sampling and dynamics that truly rival an acoustic instrument; and Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) tone generation, controlling both volume and timbre changes as the person plays harder and softer — just like a traditional acoustic piano.
The popular Clavinova line is now a six-time winner of MMR’s coveted Dealers’ Choice Awards, previously receiving honors for 1998 Digital Piano Line of the Year, 1997 Product of the Year and 1993, 1995 and 1996 Keyboard of the Year.
MMR will present the Yamaha Piano Division with the Dealers’ Choice Award for 1999 Digital Piano Line of the Year at Winter NAMM 2000, held in Los Angeles.
