CD Drive Enhances Yamaha's Latest Disklavier Pro and Grantouch Series PianosAs a growing number of consumers are listening to music via CDs, Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, announces the addition of a CD drive to its latest line of Disklavier PRO and GranTouch Series pianos, enabling these models to play audio/MIDI CDs. The new pianos, which also feature the traditional Disklavier floppy disk drive, are debuting at Winter NAMM 2001.The CD drive can be found on all Disklavier PRO Series pianos, including the latest DC7PRO, as well as the Disklavier GranTouch DGT2A and DGT7A, allowing them to play PianoSoft™ PlusAudio discs. This software combines live piano performances and vocalists. More than 20 titles are now available for purchase from top music artists such as Christopher Cross, Bob James, Frank Sinatra, and Dave Koz, as well as Christmas favorites, Broadway hits, Latin rhythms and classical standards. "The new Disklavier PRO and GranTouch Series now combine all of the well-established Disklavier piano features with a digital CD, for the ultimate in high-fidelity sound," said Piano marketing manager Paul Calvin. "Piano owners can now experience a complete home entertainment product." Yamaha has also added an Extra Memory Kit (EMK) that allows the user to store nine different libraries of prerecorded songs for quick and easy Programmed Playback—a function that can store songs and be set to play at any time of the day. The PRO and GranTouch Series retain the Disklavier's traditional ability to record each detail of the artist's fingering and pedaling with absolute precision and store it on a standard floppy disk for easy playback. Additionally, the RECORD feature on the PRO series will capture even the slightest upward and downward movement of the keys and pedals. "The ultra-sensitive recording and playback system of the new PRO Series provides us with the best of both worlds—a fine recording instrument for the serious musician, and the ultimate in home entertainment for the audiophile listener," said Calvin.
